September 21, 2013 - Essex Skypark Wings & Wheels Fly-In |
It's that time of the year again. It's time for the aviation extravanganza event of the year: the Essex Skypark Wings and Wheels Fly-In. I volunteered the family to man the entrance. Here is my team, under my close supervision.
I gave a ride to a friend's daughter. Her first time in a small airplane. She liked it.
Another ride for the same friend's brother. He liked it too but was happy to be on the ground with the ride behind him.
Looking north.
Looking south. | ||||||
The radio-controlled airplane guys were out in force.
There was a big helo presence this year, including a police and news helicopter.
Visitors from other airports. All my favorite airplanes were here:
Citabrias, RVs, Kitfoxes.
Even some bigger iron.
Gotta like this big Avion "Spirit of Baltimore Hon".
A little Zodiac. | ||||||
Brian's RV-8. | ||||||
I've seen this SuperCat at various local fly-in's over the years.
There were some show cars as well.
Rob's SeaRey in Maryland colors and brightly decked out hangar.
Some airport regulars hanging out in front of a homebuilt Rotoway helicopter.
Hayrides were available.
And the band played on.
Tom K. liked driving the tractor.
The AirCam gave rides continuously, including to local politicians who stopped by.
Fly-in is over. Time to go back in the hangar.
